This class will cover the WHO, WHAT, and WHY of credit and homeownership. We will discuss the foundation of credit, which starts with budgeting and getting finances in order. We will also discuss how to build or establish credit and lastly the basic credit requirements to obtain a mortgage loan with a lender.
Our presenter, Kyra Jefferson is currently the Financial Advising Manager with Beyond Housing. She has served as a HUD Certified Housing counselor and teaches home buyer education to provide the skills and knowledge required to navigate through the home purchase process.   Kyra has a passion to serve the community and help St. Louis become a better place to live. She enjoys trying new restaurants and traveling whenever she can! She is a huge sports fan of her boys who play football and baseball!

Participants will learn why it is important to have a spending plan, what their relationship with money is, to create SMART goals, and how to track their spending.
Managing Debt & Budgeting
Lifting Up STL is excited to announce our Financial Educational Sessions presented by Carrollton Bank! Classes are free and open to anyone who would like to attend. The first class will be on Managing Debt and Budgeting! These sessions will be held at 3839 Lindell Blvd. St. Louis, MO 63108 in The Young Hall on Saint Louis University campus. Learn reasons why having good credit is important, what’s in your credit report, how to get your credit report for free, and dispute incorrect information. Participants will also learn strategies to establish or rebuild credit and learn how to freeze their credit if needed. There is time at the end of the class for participants to ask questions.
